PHARRELL WILLIAMS ❘ PERSPECTIVE CHAIR 2008

The chair is called Perspective. It was designed by Pharrell Williams in collaboration with Domeau & Pérès.

“I had often wondered what it’s like to truly be in love, not lust for once..So I decided not to ask what it was like in someone else’s shoes or what it was like to sit in their seat..I decided to sketch out my own experiment; the perspective chair.” Pharrell Williams

DAMIEN HIRST RETROSPECTIVE ❘ TATE MODERN

Damien Hirst first came to public attention in London in 1988 when he conceived and curated Freeze, an exhibition in a disused warehouse which showed his work and that of his friends and fellow students at Goldsmiths College. In the nearly quarter of a century since that pivotal show, Hirst has become one of the most influential artists of his generation.
This is the first substantial survey of his work in a British institution and brings together key works from over twenty years. The exhibition includes iconic sculptures from his Natural History series, including The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living 1991, in which he suspended a shark in formaldehyde. Also included are vitrines such as A Thousand Years from 1990, medicine cabinets, pill cabinets and instrument cabinets in addition to seminal paintings made throughout his career using butterflies and flies as well as spots and spins. The two-part installation In and Out of Love, not shown in its entirety since its creation in 1991 and Pharmacy 1992 are among the highlights of the exhibition.                                                         via tate.org.uk

The Hirst retrospective at Tate Modern in 2012 was the most popular solo exhibition in Tate history.                via bbc.co.uk

Christopher Wool was born in Chicago, in 1955. Wool now lives and works in New York.

Wool is best known for his paintings of large, black, stenciled letters on white canvases. However, Wool possesses a wide range of style- using a combined array of painterly techniques, including spray paint, silkscreen, and hand painting. Wool provides tension between painting and erasing, gesture and removal, depth and flatness.

Christopher Wool's work has been shown extensively around the world including venues like the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, and Museum Boymans-van Beuningen, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. His 2006 solo exhibition at Gagosian Gallery, Beverly Hills was his first with Gagosian.                          via gagosian.com
